Here are the top 3 stories today in Buffalo:

  1. Nursing home employees will hold a one-day strike for higher wages and more staffing. While some homes held a strike on Tuesday, others are striking today. Companies that own the homes where pickets took place stated that two of the locations are above normal staffing levels and that some workers do not support the strike. Union workers are awaiting an agreeable contract. (Spectrum News)
  2. An Erie County Sheriff's Deputy was injured during an arrest on Monday. The incident began with a vehicle pursuit that reached speeds over 100 mph. The vehicle was later found, and the suspect began throwing punches at deputies attempting to arrest him. One deputy had been struck in the head until the suspect was restrained. The deputy was treated for a concussion and shoulder and elbow injuries. (WKBW 7 News Buffalo)
  3. Two people have died in the past three weeks after being hit while riding a bicycle. Bicyclists in Buffalo are concerned about the quality of bike lanes and crosswalks in town and are asking the city to take steps to solve those issues. They are also asking drivers to slow down in order to be safer around bicyclists. (WKBW 7 News Buffalo)
