Here are the top stories in Buffalo today:
.) The Starbucks workers at the downtown Delaware-Chippewa location remain on strike over unfair retaliation they are receiving from the company about unionization. They are also demanding first aid training after a customer of the store overdosed in their store last week.

.) As gas prices continue to drop, Western New York drivers are currently paying an average of $3.89 for a gallon of regular unleaded gas. This aligns with the average price for New York State, but remains 50 cents higher than it was a year ago and above the national average, which currently is $3.68.
.) The program to pay parents in Buffalo schools to transport their kids to school, now named the Parent Transportation Reimbursement Pilot Program, is estimated to cost $800,000. The proposal calculating this cost based it upon 1,500 parents (a number received by a survey asking qualifying parents to indicate their interest), an average of 6 miles total traveled to and from school per day, 144 potential school days per year (which is an 80% attendance rate).

.) In a significant downsize, The Buffalo News is moving its offices to the Larkin District. Their new space, where they will move to this fall, is 20,000 square feet of space in the Larkin at Exchange building. Their old headquarters, the 160,000 square foot building on Scott street, is being taken over by Uniland Development Company.
.) The Buffalo Fire Department Chief, Mark Hillery, died unexpectedly last Wednesday. This news was just announced to the public this past weekend, with a cause of death not yet released. Chief Hillery had been working for the fire department since 1989, and as the chief since 2008.
