- A $3 million federal grant from the U.S. Health Resources Service Administration will go towards training community health workers. The money is dedicated to the network of Buffalo and D'Youville University, which has trained over 500 health workers since it was founded in 2010. Read more at The Buffalo News.
- Community leaders attended a Mental Health Equity Panel at SUNY Buffalo State to discuss long-term trauma in communities after racially-motivated attacks. Mayor Byron Brown said, "I was honored to take part in today’s National Mental Health Roundtable to address mental health challenges, including the harmful impact of racism on mental health. - The Buffalo Main Streets Initiative (BMSI) is granting the Lovejoy community $900,000 for commercial growth. This money will be available to building owners to be reimbursed 50-75% of total project cost for eligible activities. Lovejoy District Council Member Bryan J. Bollman said, “My hope is these funds can transform the Lovejoy District into a more inviting, modern business corridor.” Read more at Buffalo Rising.
- After a two-year Covid hiatus, restaurant week is returning to the Buffalo area for next week. This year, restaurant week has partnered with Visit Buffalo Niagara so that the event can better encourage tourism. Learn more about restaurant week at WGRZ 2.
- The $3 million proposal for Buffalo Public Schools security has been approved. District Superintendent said, “We want our parents to feel comfortable sending their children into school, and we want our students to come into schools and know that they are safe." For more information, visit WGRZ 2.
