Here are the top 3 stories today in Buffalo:
- Complicated travel requirements and frustrations on both sides of the border are fueling concerns about travel revenues. According to Brian Higgins, a U.S. Representative from Buffalo, the redundancies and obstacles are preventing U.S.-Canada border communities from bouncing back after the travel slowdown in 2019. Higgins says that the latest numbers show a 70,000-vehicle decrease in crossings at the Peace Bridge. Canadian officials are echoing the opinions of Higgins and other Buffalo locals who are reliant on tourism revenue. (Buffalo News)
- Three are dead after a house fire in North Buffalo. According to Buffalo Fire Commissioner William Renaldo, the victims were reportedly trapped on the second floor and in the attic of the house. The victims were identified as a father and two of his daughters, while the mother was taken to ECMC. The fire began around 3:30 a.m. on Monday morning at 194 Huntington Avenue, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation as of Monday afternoon. (WGRZ.com)
- How much does a name matter? Residents were interviewed about their opinion on the "East Buffalo" rename. While some believe it would change the way that part of town is viewed, others think that it won't change enough to matter. Read the quotes from interviewees at the link. (Spectrum News)
