  1. With weekend wind chills as low as -25 predicted, warming shelters across the city are opening. Be sure to dress with caution if you must be outside today to prevent frostbite and hypothermia. Find details about warming centers at WKBW 7.
  2. A lawsuit against city hall and the Buffalo Police Department has found data on five officers that disproportionally ticketed motorists of color between 2012-2020.   3. The Islamist extremist and killer of South Buffalo's John Granville has been released from a Sudan prison. Since the murder, which occurred in 2008, the murderer, Abdelraouf Abuzeid, has been considered a Specially Designated Global Terrorist in the United States. Keep learning at WIVB 4.
  4. Represented by Attorney Robert Corp, residents of Buffalo are filing a class-action lawsuit against the city for not fluoridating the water. Corp commented, "We think that given the clarity in the science and the guidance from New York State Department of Health, the [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] at the federal level and the World Health Organization, that healthful water includes fluoridation."   5. Many suffer after watching the video evidence of Tyre Nichol's murder at the hands of the Memphis police. Sara Taylor, director of BIPOC Parent Mental Health Project, suggests that "the Black community participate in and host healing circles in our community for Black and brown individuals in neighborhoods to process things like this."
