- The National Weather Service says a blizzard warning has been issued for Suffolk County, with wind gusts up to 60 mph and heavy snow causing whiteout conditions in the forecast for Saturday. Governor Kathy Hochul declared a State of Emergency and warns everyone to stay off the roads. Long Island is expected to be one of the hardest-hit areas in the state, and it could get between 10 to 16 inches of snow, according to Governor Hochul. (Patch)
- News 12 reported, that a publication called National Parks Traveler put Fire Island National Seashore on its list of threatened and endangered parks because of rising sea levels. In December, a $1.7 billion federally funded project started to protect 83 miles of shoreline from the Fire Island Inlet to Montauk Point. This weekend the Fire Island Ferry Company says it has not made any decisions about altering service due this weekend's storm. The owner told News 12 they try to give at least 24 hours’ notice before canceling any trips. (News 12 Bronx)
- Search on for 2 teens missing from Wading River. Have you seen Maria Mete or Jackeline Carballo? Both teens have been missing from the Little Flower Children's Services facility since Thursday. They were seen entering a dark-color Subaru vehicle with Florida registration plates; they are known to frequent the Farmingdale area, police said. (Riverhead Patch)
