- Truck Hits LIRR Overpass, Flips Into Oncoming Lane. A truck overturned after slamming into a Long Island Rail Road overpass, injuring the driver. Upon arrival, first responders found a tractor on its side in the roadway; the truck, which was heading west on Montauk Highway, struck the 11-foot, 6-inch LIRR overpass and flipped over into the oncoming lane. The driver was injured and taken to the hospital. (Center Moriches-Eastport Patch)
- Way To Go! Third grader rides bike to benefit 9/11 charity. Ricky Taylor, a third grader at Moriches Elementary School, raised the funds to benefit Tunnel to Towers Foundation during a charity bike ride at the Grumman Memorial Park in Calverton. The fundraiser featured riders from the Suffolk County Police Benevolent Association and the Suffolk County Probation Officers Association. (Newsday)
