BK Man Killed Teen During Drug Deal Gone Wrong: DA

Nasir Perez, 22, of Midwood, will be sentenced to 21-years in prison for fatally shooting a teenager back in 2020, prosecutors said.

BROOKLYN, NY — A Brooklyn man has been sentenced to 21 years in prison for fatally shooting a teenager and injuring another during a drug deal gone wrong in East Flatbush back in 2020, prosecutors said.

Nasir Perez, 22, of Midwood, was sentenced on Tuesday after he pled guilty to first-degree manslaughter in March, prosecutors said.

On Oct. 28, 2020, at East 26th Street and Foster Avenue, Perez met with three 17-year-old teenagers to buy some marijuana, prosecutors said.

An argument broke out when Perez asked to inspect the marijuana and tried to take it from one of the teenagers. When one of the teens resisted, Perez pulled out a 380-caliber Taurus handgun, prosecutors said.

Two other teens took out knives and converged on Perez. He then opened fire, striking one of the teens in the head and chest, and hitting another in the hand, prosecutors said.

The teen shot in the head and chest was taken to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, prosecutors said.

Perez was eventually arrested on Feb. 11, 2021, according to prosecutors.

“This defendant needlessly escalated an argument into a deadly confrontation that tragically cost a young man his life. The defendant’s guilty plea and today’s sentence hold him accountable for his actions,” Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said.
