Ditmas Park Man Arrested For Shooting 62-Year-Old In Brownsville, Police Say

Richard Essor has been charged with murdering an unidentified man in Brownsville on Friday evening, police said.

DITMAS PARK, BROOKLYN — Police have arrested a Ditmas Park man for fatally shooting a 62-year-old man Friday night, the NYPD said.

Richard Essor, 33, has been charged with shooting a man twice in the chest near E. 98th Street and Ditmas Avenue around 7 p.m. Friday, police said.

The victim, whose name has not yet been released, was rushed to Brookdale Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Essor, who lives on East 21st Street near Ditmas Avenue, was arrested on Saturday and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon, said police.

Essor was remanded after his arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court and is expected to appear in court on Oct. 6, court records show.
