EAST FLATBUSH, NY — A New Jersey man has been arrested and charged on Thursday over a fatal crash in East Flatbush that killed one person, authorities announced.

Cosmos Adu Gyamfi, 56, of East Orange, has been charged with failure to yield to pedestrian bicycle and failure to exercise due care, police said.

Gyamfi, driving in a 2017 GMC SUV, is accused of fatally striking Cecilia Mariduena Mero, 45, of Flatbush, as she was walking on Beverly Road in a marked crosswalk on February 25, police said.

The 56-year-old driver remained on scene, police said

The pedestrian suffered head trauma and was transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Kings County, according to police.

On March 3, Mero, succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
