Plans Approved for 50-Story Skyscraper at 77 Greenwich Street
A new mostly residential 503-foot building is coming to the Financial District soon.

http://newyorkyimby.com/2016/0...FINANCIAL DISTRICT, NY — The city approved plans for a new skyscraper set to rise at 42 Trinity Place — now being called 77 Greenwich St. by the developers. The location was a Syms Clothing Store until they went out of business in December 2011.
The building will be 50 stories and 503 feet tall, according to records filed with the city. The tower, which has been designed by FXFowle Architects, will have 90 apartments and 4,805 square feet of retail space on the bottom floor. But it will also include a new elementary school filling floors 1 to 8, including an art classroom on the fifth floor, music room on the sixth floor and gym/auditorium on the sixth floor.
The apartments will start on the 10th floor with a single unit, four apartments per floor from the 11th to 23rd floors, three apartments per floor from floors 24 to 35 and a single penthouse on the 36th floor with a private terrace.

The plans will also include renovations to the landmarked Dickey House, a four-story brick building located at 67 Greenwich St. The building, which was built in 1809-10 for merchant Robert Dickey, was landmarked in 2005. The project was redesigned and approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission in March after the developers removed some of the overhanging portion over the Dickey House.
