Drunk Driver Crashed Truck Through Teen's Bedroom: Nassau Police

Police say the man drove through the home, then fled. He was found later by K-9 dogs. Watch video of the crash here.

WESTBURY, NY — A Brentwood man was arrested early Thursday morning after driving through a home in Westbury while drunk, Nassau County police said.

According to police, Blas Flores-Velasquez, 42, drove a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado through a home on Cypress Lane at 12:45 a.m. and came to a stop on the home's back lawn. Police say three people were in the home at the time, but none were injured. According to CBS News, the truck drove through a 13-year-old's bedroom as he slept, missing him by inches.

Police say Flores-Valesquez fled the scene on foot after the crash. Police set up a perimeter around the area, and say they found Flores-Valesquez hiding in a wooded area near the Wantagh Parkway a few hours later, with the help of a K-9 unit.

Flores-Velasquez was charged with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an incident with property damage and operation of a motor vehicle by an unlicensed driver. He is scheduled to be arraigned later today in First District Court in Hempstead.
