Duo Charged With Attempted Murder In Nassau Shooting: Police

Police say the two shot two people in their legs in late April.

WESTBURY, NY — Nassau County police say they arrested two men in connection with the shooting of two people in Westbury late last month.

According to police, officers were called to the parking lot of 741 Merrick Ave. at 3:43 a.m. on April 22. When they arrived, they found two people who had been shot in the leg. The victims, a 26-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, were both taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

On April 30, police say they arrested Jordan Ayala, 26, of Bellerose, in connection with the shooting. On May 7, Nharon Hicks, 33, of Long Beach, surrendered himself to detectives in connection with the shooting, police said.

Both Ayala and Hicks are charged with two counts of second-degree attempted murder, two counts of first-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Ayala was arraigned on May 1, and Hicks was arraigned on May 8. They were both remanded into custody.
