East Meadow Athlete Helps Lead Stony Brook to College World Series

Steven Goldstein had a big two-out hit to help the Seawolves shock LSU Sunday.

With a 7-2 win over LSU on Sunday night, Stony Brook is headed to the College World Series in Omaha for the first time.

East Meadow native Steven Goldstein chipped in a clutch two-out hit in the fourth inning to help the cause.

Sophomore Frankie Vanderka tossed a complete game three-hitter for the Seawolves, who "shocked the world," as the saying went from fans on Twitter. The Seawolves' offense hammered LSU for 15 hits en route to the victory.

Stony Brook leapt to a 4-1 lead in the fourth inning, when Maxx Tissenbaum, Kevin Krause and Goldstein each chipped in two-out, run-scoring hits.

The Seawolves are the first America East team to reach the College World Series. The College World Series begins June 14 at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Nebraska.
