East Meadow Hip Hop Artist Pens Song About His Hometown

Eric "E Roc" Francis wrote "Blue and Yellow," an ode to East Meadow.

Eric "E Roc" Francis, an upcoming hip hop artist and East Meadow resident, recently released his single, "Blue and Yellow," a song about his adventures as an East Meadow High School student, on his Youtube account.

""Blue and Yellow" is about all of my memories of East Meadow," the 20-year-old said.

Francis said that he wrote the song when rapper Wiz Khalifa came out with his song, "Black and Yellow," an ode to Khalifa's native Pittsburgh.

"When I heard it, I thought that I can do something like that with East Meadow High School's colors of blue and yellow and I did it," he said.

Francis, who is originally from Far Rockaway, Queens, came to East Meadow when he was 12-years-old. He said that it was a change that he welcomed.

"I loved it, it was something different," he said. "Nobody cared about what clothes you had and how many girls you got, it was a chance for me to be myself more than someone different."

He said that as a young child he was not allowed to listen to Rap, but he fell in love with it in high school. He credits rapper Lil Wayne as his motivator to start rhyming.

"I enjoyed his creativity," he said.

Francis is now on a mission to make a name for himself and build his fan base. He is currently enrolled in Nassau Community College's music program, Studio Recording Technology, performs at local venues, including his college and is in the process of recording a demo.

"I want to be mainstream, but I have to be patient," he said. "Rap is not the same anymore and anyone can be a rapper. I want to be an artist that creates good music."
