East Meadow School Budget Approved, Incumbent Trustee Defeated

EAST MEADOW, NY — Voters in the East Meadow School District took to the polls today and approved the district's proposed 2022-23 budget.
The budget passed 2,650 to 1,089.
Residents also approved a measure to use capital reserve funds to create additional classroom space at McVey Elementary, 2,672 to 1,033.

In addition to the budget, residents also cast votes for Board of Education trustees. Newcomer Nancy Widman defeated incumbent Sharan Sokhey 1,841 to 1,806. Incumbents Matthew Melnick and Dr. Jodi Luce were returned to their seats, earning 1,944 and 1,873 votes, respectively.
Challengers JensenAbmachen and Rosario Seims earned 1,671 and 1,535 votes, respectively.
