Gang Member Charged In Nassau Home Invasion; 2 Others Sought

A 50-year-old man was held at gunpoint during the home invasion in July, police say.

WESTBURY, NY – A Latin Kings gang member has been charged in a home invasion that occurred in Nassau in July, police said Thursday.

According to police, a 50-year-old man opened his front door of his Westbury home after hearing the doorbell and observed three unknown men outside at 4:22 p.m. on July 26.

The men were looking for a man who rented a room at the home. The 50-year-old man explained that he was not home and the three men forced their way into the house, police said.

Once inside, two of the men displayed handguns and forced the resident to the floor. Julio Vasquez, 24, held the resident at gunpoint while the other men, who have not been caught, went into a bedroom.

A short time later, the men exited the bedroom and all three men left the house. The resident went into the bedroom and noticed a television and gaming console were missing, police said. Police did not say where in Westbury the incident occurred.

Vasquez, of Bridgeport, Conn., was arrested charged with first degree burglary, second degree burglary, two counts of first degree robbery, second degree robbery and first and second degree criminal use of a firearm. He will be arraigned on Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
