Investigation Into Overdoses Leads To Arrest Of Dealer: Nassau Police
Police say an investigation into one fatal and two non-fatal overdoses led to the arrest.

WESTBURY, NY — A New Cassel man was arrested on June 3 during an investigation into multiple overdoses in the area, Nassau County police said.
According to police, Narcotics/Vice Squad detectives were investigating one fatal and two non-fatal overdoses of Nassau County residents. Police say the investigation led them to Gerardo Magana, 24, of New Cassel.
Magana was arrested on June 3 without incident. Police say when he was arrested, detectives recovered pills believed to contain fentanyl.

Magana is charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance. He was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Saturday, where he was released on his own recognizance.
Police say Magana had previously been arrested on Jan. 7 and charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, on Jan. 13 and charged with third-degree criminal mischief, and on March 20 and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was released after all three incidents.
