Man Helped Attack, Rob Nassau Resident: Police

Police say two men forced their way into the home. One strangled the resident while the other robbed him, according to police.

UNIONDALE, NY — A Uniondale man was arrested Monday after police say he broke into someone's house with another man, attacked the resident and stole from them.

According to police, a 56-year-old man was at his home on Duryea Avenue in Uniondale at 4:50 p.m. with a woman he knew. The woman left, and then called another man to tell him she was leaving.

After the call, police say the man the woman called, along with another man, arrived at the victim's house and forced their way in. Police say one of the men began to strangle the victim while the other went upstairs and stole a lockbox containing cash, as well as a Ka-Bar knife. The two men then fled.

The victim suffered bruising to his neck, but refused medical treatment.

Police responded and began to search the area. They soon found and arrested Ervin Morrison, 58, of Uniondale. The other man and the woman have not yet been arrested, police said.

Police say that Morrison was in possession of a substance believed to be heroin when he was arrested.

Morrison is charged with third-degree robbery, two counts of second-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, second-degree burglary, third-degree grand larceny and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead, and ordered held on bail of $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond, which was not posted.
