Trespassing At Eisenhower Park; Scissors Thrown At Officer: Police

Getho Brevette got combative with police when he was told to leave the park early Friday, police said.

EAST MEADOW, NY — A Roosevelt man was arrested early Friday following a disturbance at Eisenhower Park, police said.

Several people were trespassing under the pavilion near Field 1 just after 1 a.m., police said.

They were located by police, who ordered them to leave.

Getho Brevette, 27, became verbally combative and refused to leave, authorities said. He removed a pair of scissors from his bag and swung them at the officers in a threatening manner, police said.

Brevette threw the scissors, striking one of the officers in the chest, police said.

Officers deployed their Electronic Control Device, causing him to fall to the ground. He was then placed under arrest, authorities said.

Brevette was taken to an area hospital for evaluation. No injuries were reported.

He is charged with two counts of third-degree attempted assault, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, menacing a police officer, resisting arrest, second-degree obstructing governmental adminstration and trespass.

He was scheduled to be arraigned on Friday.

Brevette was arrested six times in the last thirty-three days. His last arrest was on Tuesday and he was released on an appearance ticket, police said.
