FLUSHING, QUEENS — The Flushing Meadows Corona Park Aquatic Center's pool will close for at least six weeks starting next month to allow workers to make emergency ceiling repairs, according to the city's parks department.

The pool will close to the public starting Monday, Jan. 13, and all aquatics programs will be canceled for the duration of the emergency repairs.

There are no plans to close the facility's ice rink.

"We are committed to the needs of the Queens community and will work hard to expedite these repairs and get everyone back into the pools before winter’s end," NYC Parks Commissioner Mitchell J. Silver said in a statement.

The agency encourages New Yorkers to use nearby recreation centers in the meantime, including: Al Oerter Recreation Center (131-40 Fowler Avenue); Lost Battalion Hall Recreation Center (93-29 Queens Boulevard); and Roy Wilkins Recreation Center (177th St & Baisley Boulevard), or visit one of NYC Parks’ Recreation Centers citywide.
