'Passport To Flushing' Food Crawl Celebrates Local Eateries
Flushing eateries are offering special discounts this week as part of the second annual "Passport to Flushing" tourism initiative.

FLUSHING, QUEENS — Foodies, take note: Flushing eateries are offering special discounts this week as part of the second annual "Passport to Flushing" tourism initiative.
Visitors can get their "passports" stamped at local restaurants, shops and cultural centers through Friday, July 5. The passports are available at participating businesses.
"This is stuff you can’t really find anywhere else in the city," Greater Flushing Chamber of Commerce director John Choe said in an interview with CBS New York. "We find it not only important to showcase our amazing diversity, but also to support the local businesses."

Prizes include a hotel-and-spa package and a tour of Flushing with food writer Joe DiStefano, author of "111 Places in Queens That You Must Not Miss."
"Flushing, like many neighborhoods, is suffering from high rents — a lot of the existing businesses and mom and pop stores are being displaced," Choe told CBS New York. "We're trying to do everything we can to support local business to get people to shop local."
