Things were pretty quiet in the 112 Precinct during the week leading up to Christmas in Forest Hills and Rego Park.
There were no homicides committed in the 112 Precinct this year, a number that reflects the city's ongoing efforts to reduce violence. In an announcement with Police Commissioner Ray Kelly last week, Mayor Michael Bloomberg proudly proclaimed New York the safest big city in the world once again.
“The fact that the safest big city in America is safer than ever is a testament to the hard work and determination of the men and women who put their lives on the line for us every day – and it also reflects our commitment to doing everything possible to stop gun violence," Bloomberg said.
