Crime at a Glance: Back in the Saddle
Few burglaries, no robberies in most recent crime numbers.

The 112 Precinct in Forest Hills and Rego Park had what has to be classified as a good week recently, a bright spot in what has been, in many ways, a troubled year for local law enforcement.
Dig into the numbers below:
- There were only 11 major crime incidents recorded between June 10 and June 16, a number that represented a strong 35 percent drop when compared to last year.
- There were no recorded robberies during that time period, down from one last year during the same period. In the category as a whole for the year, the local precinct is doing quite well — recording a more than 20 percent drop so far.
- The best news came in the burglary category that has been a nightmare for the 112 so far this year. Just two were committed during the week, compared to seven during the same period in 2012.
- The biggest problem area in the most recent week was grand larcenies — there were six, same as in 2012. For the year, grand larceny incidents are still down slightly, however.
- There were 22 petit larceny incidents — which did represent a big increase over 2012 — though petit larceny is not considered a major impact crime.
