QUEENS, NY — Former City Council Member Elizabeth Crowley ended her bid for the Queens borough presidency on Tuesday, paving the way for City Council Member Donovan Richards to become the Democratic nominee for the position.

"While the Board of Elections has not officially called the race, and some districts are still getting tallied, the numbers to win are just not with us," Crowley said in a statement endorsing Richards.

Richards received more than a third of roughly 113,000 ballots cast on the day of the Democratic primary, June 23, placing him well ahead of his four opponents.
