Forest Hills 9/11 Memorial Ride Returns On Sunday
Forest Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps' 9/11 memorial ride will be on 9/12, but return to its usual course after pandemic-related changes.

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — The Forest Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps' motorcycle ride in memory of 9/11 first responder Richie Pearlman, a former corps member, returns to the streets of New York City this month, but the annual memorial event will see one major change this year: The date.
The 6th annual "Run for Richie" 9/11 Memorial Motorcycle Ride will take place the day after the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks — on Sept. 12. Other major, citywide 9/11 events, and President Biden’s recent visit to Queens, forced organizers to move the event to Sunday, they said in a post.
Despite this change, some aspects of the event which were scrapped amid the pandemic will return to normal this year. Namely, as in years past, the gathering will begin at the Queens' Aqueduct Racetrack and follow an organized route to Ground Zero.

Riders of all different kinds of bikes — including sport bikes, side cars, choppers, and anything that would require a DOT Motorcycle license — are welcome to attend the event, which will take off at 1 p.m. at the racetrack, located at 110-00 Rockaway Boulevard.
Thousands of motorcycles and hundreds of emergency service vehicles are expected to participate, organizers said.
