Forest Hills Council Member Endorsed By Rep. Meng, Rep. Torres

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — Council Member Lynn Schulman announced she secured the set of signatures required to run for New York City’s 29th City Council district, receiving endorsements from several New York lawmakers.

Congresswoman Grace Meng, Congressman Ritchie Torres, and State Assembly Members Andrew Hevesi and Jenifer Rajkumar have endorsed Schulman in her run for city council as the 2023 elections get underway.

“Their support is a meaningful indication that our campaign is heading into election season strong, energized, and ready to continue to deliver results for our constituents,” said Schulman.

Schulman petitioned to get on the primary ballot, which she secured with more than 2,000 signatures. The primary election will be held on June 27, when New Yorkers will nominate party candidates through ranked-choice voting for city positions.

“I look forward to continuing my work with Lynn on crucial issues from expanding universal child care to improving affordable health care access,” said Assembly Member Andrew Hevesi.

Council members elected during the 2021 and 2023 City Council elections will serve two-year terms, with full four-year terms set to continue after the 2025 New York City Council elections, due to redistricting and the changes in 2020 to the New York City Charter.
