Historic Forest Hills Home Sold For $3.8M After Months On The Market

The new owners will be the third family to ever live in the home, which was designed in 1920 by a famed architect.

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — A historic Forest Hills home is finally off the market.

The seven-bedroom home at 43 Greenway Terrace sold Thursday for $3.8 million, a spokesperson for Terrace Sotheby's International Realty confirmed with Patch. It was co-listed by Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty, an agent with that group said.

Built in 1920 by renowned architect Grosvenor Atterbury — famed for also constructing the American Wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Rockefeller Stone Barns — the home's new owners will be its third ever occupants, the spokesperson said.

While the multi-million price tag marks the fourth highest property sale in Forest Hills Gardens, according to Terrace Sotheby's, it comes in at $150,000 under asking as some experts predict falling house prices following a multi-year real estate boom.

The home was on the market for 89 days ahead of its sale, according to the original Terrace Sotheby's listing.

Its newest owners, though, have come into a property with "uncompromised architectural integrity and highest standards of interior décor," including sunlit rooms and space for a wine cellar, a children's playroom, a home office and workout space, the listing reads.

Other design features include four original fireplaces, a butler's pantry with restored cabinetry, original leaded glass pane windows, a large second-floor landing and rooms overlooking the community open space along Flagpole Green.

The home's sale was made by GiGi Malek at Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty, according to a spokesperson.
