QUEENS, NY — Looking for a "leafy green neighborhood" with a reasonable commute to Manhattan? Your new home could be right in central Queens, StreetEasy says.

The NYC-focused real estate website highlighted Queens' Kew Gardens, a neighborhood located just south of Forest Hills, calling it an "amazingly affordable option" with space to breathe.

StreetEasy touted Kew Gardens' parks and green spaces, including "crowning jewel" Forest Park — the third-largest park in the city — and Maple Grove Cemetery, which hosts historic and cultural events.

In fact, according to StreetEasy, the neighborhood is one of seven planned garden communities in the city.

If the promise of nature hasn't sold you on Kew Gardens, StreetEasy said the neighborhood also contains a main thoroughfare that Alan Mann, real estate agent and former resident, called "a real town center."

"You have one of everything on Lefferts Boulevard," Mann told StreetEasy.

And living in Kew Garden is relatively affordable, the website said: In August 2021, the median asking price in the neighborhood was $319,000 and the median asking rent was $1,900, StreetEasy said.

Though the neighborhood has pricier homes as well, their costs are still reasonable compared to the rest of the city, according to StreetEasy.

"What may go for $3M on one side of the Jackie Robinson may go for $1.5M in Kew Gardens," Mann said.
