CLINTON HILL, BROOKLYN — A sleek new condo building at 500 Waverly Avenue that began selling off multimillion-dollar units to the other half earlier this summer is now accepting low-income applications for the 11 coveted "affordable" condos in the building, as mandated by the city.
On a yearly salary of between $30,000 and $50,000 (approximately), applicants can apply to buy a spacious, sun-filled condo priced between about $150,000 and $180,000. (Plus a couple extra-fancy one-bedrooms for up to $250,000.)

"Buyers should have 10 percent of the purchase price available for down payment," Brooklyn's Community Board 2 said in an email notice blasted to its listserv Friday.
The Waverly Brooklyn, designed in a "modern bauhaus" style, sits kitty-corner from the beautiful old Rubel Coal & Ice Corporation building at the intersection of Waverly and Fulton. It shoots seven stories high, scoring its upper-floor residents — and residents who hang out on its rooftop garden — views of the Manhattan skyline.

The condo building is also tricked out with a lobby attendant; a lounge with library, media center and kitchenette; a terrace with gas grills and communal dining area; and a fitness center, according to Community Board 2.
An info session on how to apply for one of the Waverly's low-income condos will be held one block north at Brown Memorial Baptist Church at 6 p.m. on Aug. 17.
Applications are available here.
Half the condos will be reserved for New Yorkers already living within the bounds of Community District 2. Not sure which district you fall into? Here's a map.
