German Billionaire Plans Luxury Hotel In Brooklyn Warehouse
The luxury hotel will be the first of its kind in Clinton Hill.

CLINTON HILL, BROOKLYN — A dingy warehouse at 11 Grand Ave. near the Brooklyn Navy Yard could soon be transformed into a five-story, 120-room hotel with ground-floor dining and retail space.
German billionaire and prosthetics manufacturer Hans Georg Nader recently purchased this northwest Brooklyn building along three other nearby properties — 15 Grand Ave., 17 Grand Ave. and 278 Flushing Ave. — for a cool $7 million, according to Curbed. Permits were filed Saturday with the NYC Department of Buildings.
The new, 43,000-square-foot structure would provide the neighborhood a luxury oasis for travelers visiting the historic navy yard, joining two area bed and breakfasts in the Clinton Hill hospitality industry.

Brooklyn Navy Yard is currently undergoing its own transformation, including the addition of more than 2 million square feet of space, a Wegmans supermarket and 10,000 jobs by 2020; the yard’s biggest renovation since World War II, according to its website.
