More Than 100 Affordable Brooklyn Apartments Up For Grabs

Two buildings, one in Clinton Hill and one in Prospect Heights, just hit the affordable housing lottery. Rents range from $896 to $1,982.

CLINTON HILL, BROOKLYN — More than 100 apartments on Atlantic Avenue and Fulton Street just hit the affordable housing market.

The studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom spots are spread across two new buildings that are part of the Athena Apartments, one at 909 Atlantic Ave. in Prospect Heights and another at 1043 Fulton Street in Clinton Hill.

Most of the 114 apartments will go to those making 60 percent of the area's median income, but some are available to those making only 60 percent or as much as 130 percent, records show. The listing on Housing Connect does not specify how many of the apartments are available in which building.

The new buildings offer an indoor tenant lounge with a kitchenette, an outdoor courtyard, a fitness center, bike storage and in-unit washers and dryers.

60 percent median income units

The cheapest apartments available are 11 studio units that will go to those making at least $32,675 per year and will rent for $896 per month.

There are also seven one-bedroom spots available for $963 per month at the 60-percent level. Applicants should make at least $35,040 for these spots.

There are four two-bedroom and one three-bedroom spot available at this level, too. Those will cost $1,166 per month for the two bedroom and $1,339 per month for the three bedroom. Applicants should make a minimum of $42,035 per year to apply for the two-bedroom and $48,539 per year to apply for the three-bedroom.

80 percent median income units

Most of the 114 spots are available at this income level. That includes 29 studios, 17 one-bedroom, 12 two-bedroom and two three-bedroom apartments.

The studios will go to those making at least $44,126 and will cost $1,230 per month.

The one-bedroom apartments, which cost $1,321, can go to those making at least $47,315.

For the two-bedroom spots, applicants should make $56,743 and will pay $1,595 per month. The three bedroom units will go to those making at least $65,555 and will cost $1,835 per month.

130 percent median income units

These spots include 15 studios, eight one-bedroom, six two-bedroom and two three-bedroom units.

The studio apartments will go to those making at least $69,909 and will cost $1982 per month.

The one-bedroom spots cost $2,126 per month and can go to those that make at least $74,915 per year.

The two-bedroom units are available to those that make at least $89,863 per year and will cost $2,561 per month. The three-bedrooms cost $2,952 per month and will go to those that make at least $103,852.
