8 All-State Musicians Named At Garden City HS

Thousands of students auditioned for this honor last spring at solo and ensemble festivals throughout New York State.

Eight students from Garden City High School have been named All-State musicians by the New York State School Music Association in anticipation of the NYSSMA Annual Winter Conference, scheduled to take place in Rochester, New York, Dec. 5-8.

Congratulations to the following All-State student-musicians, who have been selected to perform with ensembles or serve as alternates: Lara Abruzzo (soprano 2), Enzo Cupani (bass 1), Caroline Feryo (timpani), Audra FitzGerald (bass trombone), Caroline Flanagan (French horn), Molly Madigan (soprano 1), Paul Stein (bass 1) and Sarah Wu (violin).

Thousands of students auditioned for this honor last spring at solo and ensemble festivals throughout New York State. Approximately 900 students were chosen to participate or serve as alternates for ensembles based on their proficiency scores achieved at these festivals and teacher recommendations.

NYSSMA is one of the largest and most successful music organizations in the country. The Annual Winter Conference attracts almost 4,000 participants and offers numerous workshops and showcases.
