St. Patrick's Day Parade March 3: This year the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade, organized by the Irish-American Society of Nassau, Suffolk and Queens, Inc., is being held in Mineola on Sunday, March 3.
The parade will assemble at noon on Courthouse Drive (in front of the Irish Monument), near the County Courthouse. The parade will then proceed to Old Country Road, left onto Old Country Road and turning right onto Mineola Boulevard, north turning right onto Jericho Turnpike. The reviewing stand will be located on the south side of Jericho Turnpike between Mineola Boulevard and Willis Avenue in Mineola.
Emergency Management Radio Tested Weekly: Each week, Garden City along with all villages within Nassau County, perform a “radio-test” with the Nassau County Office of Emergency Management Office (NCOEM) to ensure that their assigned radio is working properly. These radios operate at a 800 MHz frequency and have been in operation for the past several years as a result of funding from former State Sen. Michael Balboni. In the event of a major disaster where normal radio communications were disrupted each village would have the ability to communicate with each other directly as well as with the NCOEM.
Village Election March 19: The annual village election will be held Tuesday, March 19, between 12-9 p.m. at Village Hall, 351 Stewart Avenue. Village residents will be voting for the following candidates:
John J. Watras Mayor - 2 year term
Dennis C. Donnelly Trustee - 2 year term
John A. DeMaro Trustee - 2 year term
Richard V. Silver Trustee - 2 year term
Robert A. Bolebruch Trustee - 1 year term
Allen S. Mathers Justice - 4 year term
Since the incorporation of the village in 1919, members of the board of trustees in Garden City have been elected by a non-partisan vote of residents in accordance with the policies of the Community Agreement.

Applications must be received by the Village Clerk by March 12 if the ballot is to be mailed. For personal application, the deadline is March 18.
Board of Trustees Meeting Schedule: The next regularly scheduled board of trustees meetings will be held on Thursday, March 7, and Thursday, March 21 at 8 p.m. I encourage all residents to attend board of trustees meetings so as to be thoroughly informed of village issues from a first-hand perspective.
