Arrest Made As 'Large-Scale Illegal Vehicle Rally' Thwarted: Nassau PD

Officers discovered a "possible street takeover" and issued 31 summonses and impounded two vehicles, police say.

EAST GARDEN CITY, NY — An arrest was made when Nassau police were called to East Garden City for a report of a large vehicular disturbance on Saturday night, police said.

Officers on routine patrol discovered a "large-scale illegal vehicle rally and possible street takeover" near 711 Stewart Avenue at 9:37 p.m., police said. The Nassau County Police Department Bureau of Special Operations, Aviation Unit, CIRRT (Criminal Intelligence Rapid Response Team), and Emergency Service Unit all responded, police said.

Thirty-one summonses were issued, two vehicles were impounded and one arrest was made, police said.

Daniel Tiburcio, 25, of Wantagh, was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument and vehicle and traffic law violations. He had been scheduled to be arraigned Sunday at First District Court, at 99 Main St., Hempstead.
