'Birdie' Wows ‘Em at Garden City Middle School

Students present the musical comedy based on the life, and service induction, of "Conrad Birdie."

On March 15 and 16, and with a special performance for Garden City’s resident senior citizens on March 14, the middle school presented “Bye Bye Birdie,” a rip-roaring musical comedy based on the life, and service induction, of an Elvis Presley-like character: “Conrad Birdie.”

When the singing star is drafted, “Albert,” his agent, plans a goodbye kiss live on the "Ed Sullivan Show" with a selected fan, “Kim MacAfee.” Hilarity ensues as anticipation of the rock star’s visit to the MacAfee’s small home town of Sweet Apple, Ohio, puts everyone on high alert.

With direction by Kristen Aguilo, vocal direction by Nancy Menges, technical direction by Kevin Pollitt, choreography by Alison Fasulo and backstage supervisor Kimberly Greenwald, attendees were treated to a stunning, high energy production that will be remembered for years to come.

Congratulations to the cast, crew, parents and teachers who helped make this year’s production such a huge success!
