Celebrate National Library Week in Garden City

The Garden City Public Library joins libraries in communities across the country in celebrating National Library Week, a time to highlight the value of libraries, librarians and library workers. This year’s theme is Communities matter @ your library. Libraries have always been trusted places where the community can connect with each other and with the information they need. Visit the Garden City Library this week to check out the collections and services available for every member of the community. There are books, audio materials, DVDs, periodicals and electronic resources for every age and interest. Whether you are looking for the latest bestseller, financial information, eBooks or 24/7 online homework help, the Garden City Public Library has resources to meet your needs. “Service to the community has always been the focus of the library,” said Garden City Library’s director Carolyn Voegler. “While this aspect has not changed, libraries have grown and evolved in how they provide for the needs of every member of their community.” The Garden City Public Library offers downloadable eBooks and electronic resources, technology classes and programs for children and adults of every age. When you come into the Library this week, ask a librarian in the Children’s, Young Adult or Adult Reference Department about the resources and services available to library cardholders. First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a National Observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April.
