Craigslist Ad Leads to Drug Bust in Garden City

A Craigslist ad selling "420" -- aka marijuana -- led to a drug bust on Stewart Avenue in Garden City Monday night, according to the county's Narcotics/Vice Squad, which conducted the investigation with the Garden City Police Department.

According to detectives, after seeing the ad on Craigslist advertising the sale, detectives contacted defendants Kevin Desir, 21, and Cynthia Castillo, 19, both of Elmont, who agreed to sell them one ounce of marijuana.

Detectives arrived at the agreed upon location and the defendants were waiting in their vehicle with a clear plastic container containing marijuana, police said.

Police are charging both Desir and Castillo with criminal sale of marijuana, 3rd degree, and were slated for arraignment in First District Court in Hempstead Tuesday.
