Crime Blotter: Heroin Bust, Stolen Golf Cart, DWIs
A look at this week's alleged crimes, reported by the Garden City Police Department.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Garden City Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
May 14: Officer Matos stopped a vehicle on Clinton Road for not having a front plate or any window stickers. The vehicle was impounded and the driver, a female 22-year-old from South Hempstead, was cited for no plates, unregistered auto, uninspected auto and uninsured auto.
May 15: Officer Russell stopped a vehicle after observing it make an unsafe turn from Ninth Street onto Cherry Valley Avenue. The driver, a male 20-year-old from Westbury, was placed under arrest after it was determined that he had five open driver's license suspensions. He was also charged with unsafe turn and uninspected auto.
May 15: Officer Touhy arrested a female 48-year-old from Syosset for the theft of $102 in merchandise from Lord & Taylor.
May 15: Police conducted a commercial vehicle inspection on New Hyde Park Road, inspecting 17 vehicles, placing 10 out of service and issuing 93 tickets for various traffic and safety violations including three overweight violations, two defective brake violations, two hazardous material violations, two improperly secured load violations and a defective axle violation.
May 15: An unknown vehicle struck and damaged a parked vehicle on Fifteenth Street before leaving the scene without stopping.
May 16: Officer Laurita responded to Edgemere Road and Cambridge Avenue for a one-vehicle crash where the car hit a fence. Upon an investigation, Officer Laurita arrested the driver, a male 48-year-old from Franklin Square, for DWI (.14 percent blood alcohol content) and unregistered operation. There were no reported injuries.
May 17: Officer Oswald stopped a vehicle for driving erratically on Meadow Street and passing a Stop sign at Magnolia Ave. The driver, a male 47-year-old from Glen Cove, was placed under arrest for DWI (.09 percent blood alcohol content), two unsafe lane violations, passing a Stop sign and for not wearing a seatbelt.
May 17: Officer Walsh arrested a female 54-year-old from Franklin Square for the theft of $367 in merchandise from Lord & Taylor.
May 17: Officer Petraglia cited a female 19-year-old from Yorktown for passing a Stop sign on South Avenue at Brompton Road. She was also charged with aggravated unlicensed operation due to a license suspension and uninsured operation.
May 17: After an investigation, Officer Graber and a Garden City detective arrested a male 19-year-old from Stewart Manor and a male 19-year-old from Floral Park, for the theft of a golf cart from the Garden City Country Club the night before. The golf cart was located at the Floral Park suspect’s residence under a tarp. Both subjects were charged with grand larceny.
May 18: Officer Oswald stopped a vehicle on Clinton Road and Kingsbury Road for reckless/aggressive driving. Upon an investigation, the driver, a male 27-year-old from Hempstead, was arrested for aggravated DWI (.24 percent blood alcohol content), DWI drugs, possession of cocaine, unlicensed operation, reckless driving, multiple lane violations, uninsured operation and not wearing a seat belt.
May 18: Officer Laurita stopped a vehicle on Rockaway Ave by Garden City High School for a loud muffler and tinted windows. The driver, a male 30-year-old from Albertson, was arrested for aggravated DWI (.20 percent blood alcohol content).
May 19: Officer Oswald stopped a vehicle on Clinton Road south of Stewart Avenue for multiple lane violations. The driver, a male 32-year-old from Westbury, was subsequently arrested for DWI (refused test), driving without a court ordered interlock device, felony aggravated unlicensed operation for a suspended license due to a prior DWI, the lane violations and uninsured operation.
May 20: An iPod Touch was reported stolen in the Performing Arts Center at Adelphi University.
May 20: Damage consisting of scratches was found on the driver’s side of a vehicle parked at a Westbury Road residence.
May 21: As part of an ongoing investigation, Garden City detectives arrested a male 47-year-old from Queens at the Nassau Boulevard railroad station for felony possession of heroin.
May 21: The Garden City Police and Fire Departments, as well as the NCPD Arson Squad, are investigating a garbage pail fire in a bathroom at the Adelphi University Performing Arts Building. Damage was minimal, and there were no reported injuries.
May 22: Officers responded to Meadow Street and Prospect Avenue where a vehicle traveling west collided with a tree. The driver, a male 52-year-old from Mineola, was transported to a local hospital for facial injuries. He was also placed under arrest for DWI.
