DA: Man Indicted for Stabbing 2 Men Outside Restaurant
The man got into an argument with the victims and stabbed them in front of a Hempstead restaurant in May, officials said.

A Hempstead man has been indicted for stabbing two men after an argument in May, according to the Nassau County District Attorney’s office.
Marvin Mejia, 33, was arraigned Thursday on two counts of second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, the DA said.
If convicted, Mejia could face a maximum of seven years in prison, officials said.

“This defendant is alleged to have brutally attacked and stabbed his two victims on Main Street in Hempstead,” said Acting DA Madeline Singas in a statement Thursday. “We will not tolerate violence on our streets and will prosecute this case to the fullest extent of the law.”
At 1:50 a.m., Marvin Mejia, 32, stabbed two men, ages 32 and 38, in the abdomen in front of a Main Street restaurant in Hempstead, Nassau Police said. Mejia had followed the victims to the restaurant and stabbed one of them outside, the DA said. The second victim, who was the first victim’s cousin, came outside to intervene but was also stabbed, the DA said.

One of the men struck Mejia in the head with a belt to defend himself, officials said.
Mejia is due back in court on Aug. 27.
