DMV Adds Saturday Hours On LI Ahead Of REAL ID Deadline
Starting on May 7, Long Islanders will need a REAL ID driver's license to board domestic flights.
GARDEN CITY, NY — Beginning on May 7, Long Islanders will need to upgrade their driver's license to a REAL ID for boarding domestic flights.
To make the transition as smooth as possible, the Department of Motor Vehicles is extended hours leading up to the deadline, and beyond.
From April 5-June 28, several DMV offices will provide Saturday hours, including in Garden City at 400 Oak St. and the Medford location on Rt. 112.

They'll be open from 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. to assist those who need to apply for a REAL ID or Enhanced ID for the first time, or those who want to upgrade their current driver license, permit or non-driver ID to a REAL ID or Enhanced ID.
DMV Commissioner Mark J.F. Schroeder said: "I’m encouraging all New Yorkers to make your appointment today and to check out our online resources that can help you prepare your REAL ID application. We want every DMV visit to be a one and done, whether you visit us on a Saturday or during the week."
