
On Wednesday, April 24 at 11 a.m. in the College Center Building, the Nassau Community College Cultural Program will present author, editor and commentator Kate Betts, who will speak about “Everyday Icon: Michelle Obama and the Power of Style.”
Kate Betts is the author of the book Everyday Icon: Michelle Obama and the Power of Style. In it, she examines how a working mother of two became an unforgettable global style icon — and why it matters.
Betts is a contributing editor at Time magazine where she has written about the worlds of style and design since 2003. Previously, she was the editor in chief of Harper’s Bazaar, where she completely redesigned the 134-year-old fashion title.
At Vogue magazine, Betts was responsible for developing and producing all fashion features. Prior to her stint at Vogue, Betts was a reporter and later bureau chief of the Paris office of Fairchild Publications. Betts has also worked for Metropolitan Home, the International Herald Tribune and European Travel and Life. In addition to her print work, Betts has appeared on numerous television programs, including "The View," "The Today Show" and "Good Morning America."
