Five Garden City Students Named National Merit Semifinalists
The students were recognized for their achievement on the PSAT exams.

GARDEN CITY, NY — Five seniors at Garden City High School earned National Merit Semifinalist designation in this year’s National Merit Scholarship Program. Nicholas De Ieso, Jason Li, Emma Nagler, Aidan Wu and Jenny Zheng achieved this prestigious recognition based on their PSAT/NMSQT results and represent the highest scorers out of more than 1.5 million entrants.
Approximately 16,000 semifinalists are now eligible to advance as finalists — a status that brings the potential to compete for scholarship awards.
“This is an extraordinary achievement that reflects academic dedication in and outside of the classroom,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kusum Sinha. “These students’ hard work and strong school and community involvement make them well-deserving of this acknowledgment.”
