Six Things You Should Know About Labor Day

It's the last day of fun in the sun at the GC Pool and more.

Six things you should know Monday, Sept. 2, Labor Day:

Village Offices Closed
: Village offices are closed today in observance of Labor Day. They will reopen Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 8:30 a.m.

Post Office Closed
: The Garden City Post Office located at 600 Franklin Ave. is closed today in observance of Labor Day. It will reopen Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 9 a.m.

Last Day at the Pool
: Another season of fun in the sun wraps up today at the Garden City Pool. The pool will be open from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. An end-of-the-season party, with a DJ, will kick off at 6 p.m. in the snack bar area.

Sanitation Collection
: Please note there is no garbage or recycling pickup today. Residences west of Rockaway Avenue will have their garbage collected on Tuesday and Friday and those east of Rockaway Avenue will be collected on Wednesday and Saturday. Rubbish will be collected on Thursday. Those residents scheduled for recycling pickup today should place recyclables out on Monday, Sept. 9. All other recycling days remain the same.

Fireworks
: Enjoy the evening fireworks at the Cherry Valley Club on Monday, Sept. 2. The show begins at dark.

LICM
: The Long Island Children's Museum (LICM) will be closed Sept. 2 in observance of Labor Day. (The museum will close Monday, Sept. 9 for its annual fall fix-up, to include heavy cleaning and exhibit and facility maintenance. The museum will reopen Saturday, Sept. 21 at 10 a.m.)
