Garden City Annual Race For A Cure Set For Saturday

You can register now for the annual 5K race, which raises money to help fund cancer research.

GARDEN CITY, NY — The annual Garden City Race for a Cure is set to run this Saturday, and there's still time to register.

The annual 5K race/1 mile fun run starts and ends at Garden City High School, at 170 Rockaway Ave., on April 9. the Fun Run starts at 8:30 a.m., and the race begins at 9.

The race helps raise money for cancer research. Over the years, the Race for a Cure has raised more than $200,000 for groups across Long Island and the country.

Everyone who registers online before April 8 will receive a race T-shirt. There will also be in-person registration on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Garden City High School cafeteria, and from 7 to 8:45 a.m. the morning of the race. There will be raffles for gift baskets sold at the Friday registration, as well as pasta meals from La Bottega.

There will be awards for the top three male and female finishes of the 5K, as well as for the top three finishers in multiple age groups.

Police will also be closing roads along the race route from 8 a.m. until noon.
