Garden City Named Second Best Place to Start a Business in New York

New rankings put several Long Island communities in the top places for starting a business in the state.

Garden City is the second best place to start a business in New York State, according to new rankings released Monday by NerdWallet.

The site analyzed data from the U.S. Census Bureau to rank the business climate and economic health of 83 New York communities. NerdWallet restricted their analysis to areas with populations above 5,000.

“Average annual revenue per business is more than $1.4 million, and there are over 19 businesses per 100 people in Garden City,” according to NerdWallet. GC’s multiple business districts and proximity to universities also helped bump the village up on the list.
