Garden City Schools Names New Athletic Director

The district has hired Eduardo Ramirez, who brings a wealth of experience with him.

GARDEN CITY, NY — At its March 22 meeting, the Garden City Board of Education appointed Eduardo Ramirez as the district’s new director of athletics, physical education and health. Ramirez comes to Garden City with a strong background in school athletics and administration.

Ramirez currently serves as the director of physical education, health education, health services and athletics in the Baldwin School District. He has held this position since 2005, supervising multiple departments. Prior to that, he spent three years as the dean of students at Baldwin Senior High School and four years as a K-12 physical education teacher at Walt Whitman High School in the South Huntington School District.

Throughout his career, Ramirez has received a number of accolades including being named the Athletic Administrator of the Year by the New York State Athletic Administrators Association. Additionally, he is affiliated with regional athletic organizations including formerly serving as the Nassau County Athletic Council President. He holds a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Hofstra University and an educational administration degree from the College of New Rochelle.

“After a long search to fill our athletic director position, we are pleased to welcome Mr. Ramirez into the Garden City community,” said Superintendent Dr. Kusum Sinha. “Mr. Ramirez brings experience to the district that we know will be an asset to our students. We are excited for him to lead our teams in the upcoming fall season.”

Ramirez’s appointment is effective July 1.
