Garden City Students Win Honorable Mention in Science Competition

Three Garden City High School students were named as 2013 Toshiba/NSTAExploraVision Honorable Mention winners: Brian Wolf, Yianni Flouskakos and Riley Nolan.
This year’s theme was “Medical Marvels.”
The Honorable Mention award placed the team’s project among the top 10 percent of all ExploraVision projects submitted to the competition this year.
In a congratulatory email from the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) to science research teacher Dr. Steven Gordon, the competition organizers wrote, “Your students are commended for a job well done in demonstrating innovative thinking in their exploration of science and its impact on technology and the future. You are applauded for your leadership role and for involving your students in ExploraVision.”
“Our students represented the school very admirably,” Dr. Gordon said.
The students and Dr. Gordon received certificates of achievement and small gifts for their placement in the 2013 ExploraVision competition.
