Human Remains Found In Wooded Area On LI: Police

The remains were discovered in an encampment, police say.

GARDEN CITY, NY — Human remains were found in Nassau County Tuesday, police said.

According to Nassau County police, the incident took place at 2:19 p.m. in East Garden City.

Officers received a 911 call for possible human remains in the wooded area located in the rear of 700 Dibblee Drive, reportedly behind a Lowe's store, police said. Upon arrival, they noticed an abandoned encampment and discovered human remains, police said.

The homicide squad and the medical examiner responded; the body was brought to the medical examiner’s office for further examination, police said.

The investigation is ongoing. Detectives have asked that anyone with information contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS or call 911. All callers will remain anonymous.
