Long Island Teacher Of The Week: Jaclyn Williams
The kindergarten teacher was chosen as the latest Teacher of the Week.
LONG ISLAND, NY — Every teacher deserves praise. They work tirelessly and do so much more than just educate students. They can be role models, leaders, therapists, confidants and more.
Some teachers really go above and beyond, though. One teacher that deserves a special shout-out is Jaclyn Williams, a kindergarten teacher at St. Joseph's School in Garden City.
Williams was nominated as Teacher of the Week by Kaitlin Fioravanti. Here's what she had to say:

Jaclyn Williams was my sons kindergarten teacher last year during an unprecedented COVID year. She went above and beyond to ensure each child (remote or in person) received the best education. She is caring and dedicated to every student. Ms. Williams went as far to attend my son's T-ball game on a Saturday morning because he asked her too. He was beyond thrilled when she showed up to support him.
The transition to 1st grade was challenging for my son and Ms. Williams stepped right in by offering extra support to ensure he had the confidence he needed to succeed. She continually follows up with me to ensure he is meeting current goals. Further, she connects with me on his test grades so she can congratulate him or offer him some additional support to make sure he succeeds.
Lastly, she started a mini drama club after school program for grades K-5 (Ms. Williams is already responsible for the middle school drama club in the spring). The kids put on an adorable Christmas program for all parents and friends to enjoy. My son participated in this after-school club and I watched him blossom and become more confident with public speaking.
In conclusion, I believe Ms. Williams is one of those “once in a lifetime” teachers and I am so blessed that my son had the opportunity to be apart of her classroom. I know the entire class he had last year all feels the same way.
Congratulations to Jaclyn Williams! Thank you for all that you do!
